Just looking over the headlines and seeing all these stupid moves they are trying to make makes me face palm. Especially considering they have the best payroll situation in the NBA right now, I mean just look at this. They currently have no long-term-awful-contracts holding them back and practically a clean slate to make smart moves. But NOPE, they just insist on doing stupid moves trying to be relevant. And part of it is trying to keep Deron Williams happy so he stays with the team but this is just pathetic.
They fucked up bad when they traded there 6th pick in the 2012 draft for Gerald Wallace, who ended up declining his player option for the 2012-13 season. So they basically traded the 6th pick in a deep draft for ~2 months of Gerald Wallace and its not like they even made the playoffs. Then they offer him a 4-year, 40 million dollar contract. Which would have been a good deal 5 years ago, but Wallace is turning 30 this month and is already on the decline, so that’s just an awful deal. I really don’t know what the fuck they’re thinking. They could have used that 6th pick to select small-forward Harrison Barnes; young-cheap talent that you can build around.. not a 30-year old forward that has a weak jumpshot, relies on his athleticism, and is on the decline of his career.
Now there trying to get one of the worst contracts in the league in Joe Johnson and trading a bunch of expiring contracts for it, while also losing the ability to sign Dwight Howard as a free-agent or make a trade package for him? I just have to shake my head at all of this. They’re trying too hard to be relevant and just going to end up failing in the long run. Also, they have a young 2-guard in Marshon Brooks, so I don’t know why they would even want Johnson.
